Cyanotype photograms · Unique work
Skull, sun, trace
An ongoing series of one-of-a-kind cyanotype photograms that began during time spent in Mexico, shaped by the visual richness of the culture and the traditions and imagery of Día de los Muertos.
I became particularly interested in the forms of animal skulls and the way the photographic process can transform them. I work directly with the skulls, placing them onto light-sensitive paper and exposing them to the sun. I prefer to work outside, allowing natural light, weather, time, and the environment to become part of the process.
The cyanotype process is inherently organic and unpredictable. I do not try to completely control the outcome. I respond to what happens.
