Mr. Mrs.

Mr. Mrs. is a series that developed into a collaborative exhibition called Dress Codes.

Enjoy the interviews and wonderful conversations with open, smart, interesting students from the University of New England on the topic of dress codes and gender. And the paper dolls made during the exhibition that I assembled into a handmade book.

Mr. Mrs. is a series of photographs, created through collaboration with trans models and made to provoke viewers to question the notion of gender, considering the symbols and conventions of how we dress. The goal is to catch the viewer by surprise, presenting what first appears to be feminine and upon further inspection is revealed to be masculine. The work is meant to confront the viewer with their own biases and to provoke thought about where their beliefs originate.

The work was presented in a solo exhibition from October 2019 - January 5, 2020, at the University of New England, and developed further with the participation of university students.
